Bhubaneswar: Taking cognizance of reports of patients, especially from COVID-19 hotspots, being denied admissions by private hospitals/ clinics, Odisha government on Saturday warned stern action against those indulging in such practices.
“Patients needing Medicare at hospitals/clinics need urgent attention. Instances have come of some private hospitals reluctant in admitting patients from hotspots districts It’s ethically wrong and illegal,” tweeted Odisha Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy.
In another development, COVID observer for Cuttack district, Saurav Garg today reviewed the preparedness of hospitals, both in rural and urban areas in the Millennium city.
“A review was done on the steps taken and what standard operating procedure (SOP) needs to be followed at SCB Medical and Acharya Harihar Regional Cancer Centre (AHRCC) so that there is no spread of COVID-19 from any patient to others,” Garg informed.
Garg further stated that the SOP is being thoroughly followed for indoor and outpatient departments and a through antigen testing is being done to ensure that only COVID-19 negative patients are allowed in indoor departments while the positive ones are shifted to COVID hospitals.
In view of the lockdown till July 31, special discussions were held with Commissionerate Police during the review meeting held today at Cuttack.
“As per the SOP, the hospitals in the Cuttack are conducting antigen tests of indoor patients and social distancing measures are being strictly followed at outpatient departments. All the attendants are also being tested for COVID-19,” Garg added.
