Bhubaneswar: There has been a sharp decline in the COVID-19 cases, particularly in the last 10 days in the State, official sources said on Tuesday. The daily cases have also registered a drop in worst-affected districts of Ganjam, Khordha, Cuttack and Puri.
Sources said the drop in new cases may force the State government to revisit its strategy and take measures accordingly to further contain the outbreak of coronavirus infection in the State.
As per official sources, the declining trend in the daily Covid19 positive cases is being observed since the last 10 days in Odisha. Moreover, the positivity rate has also been consistently decreasing and it is expected to further go down.
As per the data shared by the State government, the COVID-19 positivity rate (10-day average) has come down from 8.53% to 6.32%. Similarly, the daily cases (10-day average) have reduced from 4,142 to 2,833. The cases have come down significantly, in the most affected districts like Ganjam, Khordha, Cuttack and Puri.
2,275 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the last 24 hours from different parts of Odisha. This was the lowest daily-cases reported in the past few weeks taking the COVID-19 tally on Tuesday to 2,56,937.
Of the 2,275 new COVID-19 cases reported today, Khordha district recorded 364 new cases, followed by Sundargarh (150), Cuttack (144), Angul (136), Balasore (111), Mayurbhanj (110) and Jharsuguda (100).
On the other hand, 17 more patients succumbed to the infection during the period, taking the virus toll in Odisha to 1057, informed Health and Family Welfare Department.
