Bhubaneswar: The Covid-19 tally in Odisha rose to 18,110 with 673 new positive cases while the death toll mounted to 97 as six more succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours, as per the I&PR Department on Monday.
"Regret to inform the demise of six Covid positive patients while under treatment in hospitals," said the department.
While five deaths were from Ganjam district, the sixth patient who became a victim of the virus belonged to Gajapati district.
Of the total fresh cases reported from 23 districts across the State, 446 were detected from different quarantine centres while 227 are local contact cases.
Ganjam district which has been the worst-hit by the coronavirus pandemic reported 239 fresh cases.
Similarly, Khurda and Bhadrak reported 58 cases each, Kandhamal 44 cases, Koraput 41, Jagatsinghpur 36, Cuttack 32, Jajpur 28, Keonjhar 24, Bargarh 22, Gajapati 15, Jharsuguda 14, Balasore 13, Sundergarh 11, Dhenkanal 10, Sambalpur 3 while one person in Mayurbhanj also tested positive. Four cases each were reported from Angul, Kendrapara, Malkangiri, Nayagarh, Puri and Sonepur districts.
A total of 7500 RT-PCR tests were conducted in the last 24 hours in Odisha taking the cumulative number of tests to 393602.
As many as 457 persons also recovered from COVID-19 in Odisha today.
