Bhubaneswar: It seems that COVID-19 infections are now going through a peak in Bhubaneswar as the smart city on Thursday reported its highest single-day spike of 386 new cases. Bhubaneswar not only reported the highest single-day spike, the city also saw highest local contact cases in the past 24 hours.
Of the new 386 COVID-19 cases reported in the last 24 hours, 183 cases were reported from quarantine centres while the remaining 203 were local contact cases, as per the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) tweet.
Earlier, a record single-day spike of 3,384 cases was reported from different parts of Odisha in the last 24 hours. Of the new cases, Khordha district had reported highest 587 and Cuttack 492 COVID-19 cases.
Out of the total 13,925 COVID-19 cases reported from Khordha district so far, 8,647 cases have been reported from Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) limits.
With the detection of 386 new cases, the COVID-19 tally in Bhubaneswar has reached 8,647 including 3,478 active cases and 5,124 recoveries. The COVID-19 death toll in Bhubaneswar stands at 36.
