Man killed, body burnt over superstitious belief

Kandhamal: A man was beaten to death and his body set on fire allegedly over suspicion of practising witchcraft at Badabanga village under Daringbadi police limits in Kandhamal district. The deceased has been identified as Subhas Chandra Majhi.

The matter came to light after the wife of the deceased Subhasini lodged a complaint with the police.

Basing on her complaint, police recovered the half charred body of Subhas from a nearby forest and have sent it for autopsy.

Police have also detained seven persons and are interrogating them in connection with the incident.
