Bhubaneswar: With detection of 83 new COVID-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours, the total virus tally in the capital city rose to 29,236 according to the data shared by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC).

Of the fresh cases, 63 are local contacts while the remaining 20 are from quarantine, the civic body said in a tweet.

Bhubaneswar also registered 201 recoveries in the last 24 hours. Total recoveries in the city currently stand at 27,744.


Earlier in the day, with a single-day spike of 1,709 COVID-19 cases, the virus tally in Odisha went up to 2,91,825 on Sunday. The death of 11 patients undergoing treatment for coronavirus at various hospital pushed the toll to 1,331.
