Cuttack: Two nurses of Acharya Harihar Regional Cancer Centre in Cuttack on Sunday tested positive for COVID-19, informed Director of the Centre Lalatendu Sarangi.
Both the nurses had come in contact with a cancer patient from Ganjam district who was earlier tested positive for COVID-19 on June 24. He was reportedly admitted to the emergency ward of the hospital on June 19.
Soon after, the doctors and the nurses who had come in contact with the patient were sent to home quarantine and swab samples of 52 staff of the centre were sent for test out of which two tested positive for the virus, said Sarangi.
Both the nurses, a male and a female, have been shifted to a COVID hospital for treatment.
On the other hand, the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) today declared some areas of sector-9 as containment zones after detection of a positive case.
The areas that have been declared containment zones are:
South: Main road in front of Plot no D-47 to D-49
West: Road in front of D-1 to D-49
North: Ambatota Road from D-1 to B-34
East: back side of Plot no B-35 to A-46
Vehicular movement has been stopped in these areas while all the inhabitants within the containment zone have been directed to stay indoors.
The supply of essentials and medical requirements will be ensured through various teams, informed Cuttack Municipal Corporation.
In a related development, Badamba town in Cuttack district was also declared containment zone after reports of two Covid-19 cases in the area in the last two days.
