The Southwest Monsoon has finally withdrawn from entire Odisha, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Saturday.
The monsoon had already withdrawn from several parts of India around October 15 except from eastern region due to formation of two back-to-back low pressure systems over Bay of Bengal. The development had triggered widespread rainfall activities over Odisha and nearby states earlier this month.
Several western districts of Odisha like Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Bolangir, Sonepur and Nuapada, most parts of Angul and Boudh along with some parts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal witnessed the withdrawal of the monsoon from October 11.

“The southwest Monsoon has further withdrawn from remaining parts of Odisha today and thus has withdrawn from entire State,” said the weather forecasting agency.
As per the IMD, dry weather prevailed over the districts of Odisha and the maximum temperature recorded was appreciably above normal in some districts of Coastal, South and South Interior Odisha.
Already several parts of the State are experiencing a sharp fall in the minimum temperature. The minimum temperature in several districts in South Odisha was below normal in the past 24 hours.
The temperature chart of various stations showed mercury recording the highest at Puri with 35.2 Degree Celsius. On the other hand, temperature slumped to the lowest of 15.2 Degree Celsius in Phulbani.
“There will be no large change in the maximum and minimum temperature over the districts of Odisha in the next 4 to 5 days. The maximum and minimum temperature in Bhubaneswar in the next 24 hours is likely to be around 32 Degree and 21 Degree Celsius, respectively,” predicted IMD.
