The process of withdrawal of southwest monsoon has already started in Odisha. This monsoon, during the period from June 1 to September 20, the state recorded 5 per cent more rains than the normal, informed the Regional Meteorological centre in Bhubaneswar.
During this period, a total of five districts- Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kandhamal, Gajapati and Koraput- recorded excess rainfall while the rest 25 districts received normal rianfall.
Meanwhile, the low pressure over northwest Bay of Bengal is moving towards land area. Under its influence, western and interior Odisha is likely to witness heavy downpour.
As such, the IMD has issued yellow warning to Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Bolangir, Bargarh, Jharsuguda and Sundargarh for 24 hours starting 8.30 am of September 21.
These districts are likely to witness very heavy rainfall. However, the amount of low pressure rainfall in the State will start to decrease during this period.
