The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday predicted heavy rainfall activities in several parts of the country in coming days.
As per the latest weather forecast, an intense spell of rainfall is very likely to continue along west coast during the next five days and subdued rainfall activity over Northwest and adjoining Central India till June 25, 2022.
Under the influence of an off-shore trough, a middle-level cyclonic circulation over Eastcentral Arabian Sea off Maharashtra coast and strong westerly winds along the west coast in lower tropospheric levels, widespread rainfall with thunderstorm/lightning very likely over Karnataka, Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Kerala & Mahe and Lakshadweep and scattered to fairly widespread rainfall likely over Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during the next five days.
Isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over Konkan and Goa, Gujarat region, Coastal Karnataka and Kerala and Mahe during next five days; Interior Karnataka on June 25 and over Coastal Andhra Pradesh on June 23 and 24 2022.
Isolated very heavy rainfall is also likely over Konkan and Goa during the next four days. Similarly, under the influence of southerly/southwesterly winds from Bay of Bengal to Northeast and adjoining East India, widespread rainfall is very likely over Northeast India and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during the next five days.
Isolated heavy rainfall is likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura during next 5 days.
Fairly widespread rainfall with thunderstorm/lightning is very likely to continue over Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha and Gangetic West Bengal during next five days.
