A Western disturbance seen as a trough in middle tropospheric westerlies and it is very likely to cause light isolated to scattered rainfall/snowfall over Western Himalayan region from New Year on January 1 to January 4, 2025.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday informed that a fresh western disturbance in quick succession is also likely to affect Northwest India from January 6, 2025.

As per IMD, there is a possibility of fall in the minimum temperatures by 4-6℃ over Uttar Pradesh during next five days and by 3-4℃ over Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi and Rajasthan during next three days and no significant change thereafter.

Cold Wave Warnings: Cold wave conditions are very likely in isolated pockets of Punjab and Haryana-Chandigarh during 31st December-2nd January and over Rajasthan during 30th December-02nd January. 

Cold Day Warnings: Cold Day conditions very likely in isolated pockets of Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan on 29th and Punjab and Haryana-Chandigarh on 29th & 30thDecember.

Dense Fog Warnings: Dense fog conditions are very likely to prevail during late night/early morning hours in isolated pockets of Himachal Pradesh during 29th December-01st January; Uttar Pradesh during 29th-30th; Rajasthan on 30th & 31st December and over Assam & Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura till 2nd January.

Forecast For Odisha

Day 1 (Valid upto 0830 hrs IST of 30.12.2024): Light rain is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sambalpur, Deogarh.

Yellow Warning: Dense fog is very likely to occur at one or two places over the district of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, Kandhamal.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 30.12.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 31.12.2024): Shallow to Moderate fog very likely to occur at one or two places over the district of Bargarh, Bolangir, Nuapada, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sambalpur.

Day 3 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 31.12.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 01.01.2025): Dry weather very likely to prevail over the districts of Odisha.
