Heatwave to sweep Odisha till May second week: IMD

Odisha is facing severe heatwave conditions with no immediate relief expected as the IMD predicts continued high temperatures ranging from 42 to 44 degrees C until mid-May 2024. Umashankar Dash of the IMD highlights an ongoing intense heat spell affecting eastern India, notably Odisha and West Bengal.

Heatwave to continue in Odisha

With no let up in heatwave conditions, people across Odisha are doing their best to protect themselves from the scorching heat and at the same time praying for thunderstorm activities. However, no respite seems to be the on the cards as there is high probability that such heatwave conditions will prevail in different parts of Odisha for two more weeks.

Bhubaneswar IMD scientist Umashankar Dash informed that as per the extended weather outlook, the heatwave conditions will continue in Odisha from May 3 to May 9, 2024.
