The Deep Depression over Southwest Bay of Bengal currently lay centred over the same region about 270 km north-northeast of Trincomalee, 300 km east of Nagapattinam, 340 km east-southeast of Puducherry and 380 km southeast of Chennai.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday informed that it is likely to move northwestwards and intensify into a cyclonic storm during the next six hours.

IMD Predicts Heavy Rainfall
- Heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy falls at isolated places is very likely over north Tamil Nadu, Rayalaseema on November 29 and 30, south Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam on November 30.
- Heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places is very likely over Interior Tamil Nadu on December 1,
- Heavy rainfall at isolated places is very likely over Tamil Nadu, Lakshadweep on December 2 and 3, Coastal Andhra Pradeshm Yanam and Rayalaseema on December 1.
- Heavy rainfall at isolated places is very likely over Kerala and Mahe on November 30 and December 3 and over South Interior Karnataka on November 30.
- Heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places is very likely over Kerala, Mahe and South Interior Karnataka on December 1 and December 2.
- Heavy rainfall at isolated places is very likely over Andaman & Nicobar Islands on November 30.
