Cyclone Yaas: Low Pressure Forms In Bay Of Bengal; IMD DG Predicts Very Severe Cyclonic Storm

Director of Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre HR Biswas said that the cyclonic system over south-east and adjoining Bay of Bengal may trigger a low-pressure area over east-central and north Andman sea.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday informed that a low-pressure area has formed over the Bay of Bengal and it will subsequently intensify into a cyclonic storm on May 24.

"The low-pressure is expected to intensify into deep depression tomorrow and into a cyclonic circulation on the morning of May 24. The cyclonic circulation will cross coasts between West Bengal, Odisha & Bangladesh as very severe cyclonic storm in the evening of May 26," said IMD DG Mrutyunjay Mohapatra while speaking to OTV.
