The remnant of Cyclonic storm Asani has weakened into a Depression after the storm made landfall between Machilipatnam and Narsapur of Andhra coast last night, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Thursday.
The deep depression remained practically stationary during the last six hours and weakened into a depression over the same region. It lay centred close to west of Machilipatnam by 5.30 am on Thursday morning, the IMD said in a bulletin.

It is likely to hover around the same region and weaken further into a Well Marked Low-Pressure Area during next 12 hours, the bulletin said.
The Regional Meteorological Centre of the IMD in Bhubaneswar has said that the system will have no impact on Odisha now even as rains accompanied by squally winds continued in parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh.
In a media interaction, Bhubaneswar MeT centre scientist Umashankar Das said restrictions will however continue to remain enforced on the entry of fishermen into sea areas.
Sea condition is likely to be very rough to rough over west-central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal during 12 hours and improve thereafter. IMD has suggested total suspension of fishing operations over west-central Bay of Bengal and over northwest Bay of Bengal during next 12 hours. Fishermen are advised not to venture into west-central Bay of Bengal along and off Andhra Pradesh and Odisha coasts and Northwest Bay of Bengal on Thursday.
All danger warning signals have also been withdrawn from the port zones with immediate effect, said Das.
As far as forecast of rainfall activities in some parts of coastal and south Odisha is concerned, Das said that they have no link with the cyclonic system.
On the advancement of Monsoon this season and whether, the cyclonic disturbance will help in early onset of the season, Das said that has been no prediction regarding that.
