A day after torrential rains threw life out of gear in Bhubaneswar, several parts of the Millennium City of Cuttack on Tuesday experienced acute water logging conditions after heavy downpour.
Even though the Twin city experienced rain and thunderstorm activity in the evening, several low-lying areas in Cuttack remained inundated and waterlogged for several hours.
The problem was acute in Meria Bazar, Raja Bagicha, Pithapur and other low-lying areas in Badambadi, Jhanjir Mangala and other different wards under the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC).

Local residents blamed poor drainage system and ongoing drain repair and construction works in different parts of the city for the water-logging conditions.
As per reports, heavy rain pounded Cuttack for over an hour. Filthy drain water entered houses of people living in different low-lying localities, reports stated.
“Even after a short spell of rain the main road remains gets submerged. Several times the drain water enters our homes causing numerous problems for us besides raising fears of infection,” said Suman, a resident of Pithapur.
On Sunday, several localities in Bhubaneswar remained waterlogged for long hours following heavy rains. Several vehicles got stuck on the busy stretch of road in front of Iskcon temple in the city.
Meanwhile, the Regional Meteorological Centre has issued thunderstorm with lightning alert for the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri in the next 24 hours.
