A couple of days back, a video of a female assistant professor at Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology in Harinaghata, Nadia district, West Bengal, stormed the internet in which she is seen marrying her own student. Identified as Payal Banerjee, the professor 'married' a first-year student of the University inside the classroom. Soon after the video surfaced on the internet, netizens brutally criticised her. Well, her qualifications and achievements will leave anyone stunned.
About Payal Banerjee
Reportedly, Payal Banerjee is the head of the Psychology Department at Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology and teaches applied Psychology. She has been working at the University since 2022.

Qualification
According to a report by DNA, Payal Banerjee holds multiple degrees. She completed her graduation from Punjab University, Chandigarh and she did her post-graduation from Guru Nanak Dev University. Moreover, she holds a post-PG diploma from Calcutta University and a PhD in Psychology from Adams University.
Achievements
Apart from holding multiple degrees, she has also published several research papers in the UGC and has authored 13 books. Moreover, she has received several awards, including the Research Excellence Award and Young Achiever Award. She is also a member of the Indian School Psychology Association and the Indian Science Congress.
Furthermore, she has a diverse work experience.
About the Viral Video
In the video, while Payal Banerjee is seen decked up as a bride, her young student is seen filling vermillion (Sindoor) in her hair parting (maang). The duo also were seen exchanging garlands.
After the videos went viral and she faced a backlash, she resigned from her position. Further, she claimed that the video showed a staged 'wedding psychodrama' and the video was made viral deliberately to allegedly malign her by a colleague, against whom she would take legal action.

While talking to Times of India, Payal said the video was made viral after 12 days of the mock wedding incident.
TOI quoted Payal as saying, "They (the students) requested me to play the main character and I agreed. Other faculty members knew about it and agreed to the programme; no one objected then. My first-year students and I acted per the script. There was nothing serious about it."
