"The latest reshuffle has not identified a progressive direction nor instilled people`s confidence in them.In certain geographical areas there is no cabinet representation. The performance assessment of cabinet members was not taken into consideration," BJP`S national spokesperson Nirmala Seetharaman told reporters here.
Apparently referring to Kapil Sibal,she said the portfolio of a senior minister had been re-entrusted despite the fact he made a misleading statement of "zero loss" to the exchequer on 2G spectrum allocation even after CAG had stated otherwise.
She demanded that Public Sector Oil companies explain the reason for increasing oil prices even as global prices were coming down and about their stated accrued losses while at the same time giving substantial dividend to the Government.
She declined to comment on DMK chief Karunanidhi claiming that his party did not solicit additional cabinet berths or Prime Minister stating that two ministerial slots have been kept vacant for DMK. "I do not wish to comment since this is an issue among the UPA allies," she said.
She said BJP would go to the people with several issues especially Government?s inactivity on snowballing inflation, retaining their decision on issues like distribution of foodgrains to the needy in spite of Supreme Court directions on poverty alleviation and adequate Public Distribution System
Seetharaman said BJP would raise the Sri Lankan Tamils issue in the coming Parliament session, besides other important matters like inflation and corruption.
"The focus will be on refugee rehabilitation and settlement of dislodged Tamils in Sri Lanka. We will also raise issues of spiralling inflation and containing corruption," she said.
To a query she said BJP`s top brass was examining the resolution passed by Tamil Nadu government,seeking imposing of economic sanctions on Sri Lanka on the Tamils issue and would make known its stand in Parliament.
