A Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable stationed at Cuttack Railway Station prevented a major tragedy on Thursday morning by saving a passenger who had slipped while trying to board a moving train.

The quick response by Constable Tulu Behera not only averted a fatal accident but also brought national attention to the vigilance of railway security personnel.

Passenger Loses Balance While Boarding

The incident occurred at 8:05 am on Platform No. 1 of Cuttack Railway Station when Md Mujahir, a passenger attempting to board a departing train, lost his footing and began to slip dangerously close to the gap between the platform and the train. With the train already in motion, the situation could have turned fatal within seconds.

Constable Behera, who was deployed on routine platform duty nearby, immediately rushed to the spot.

Displaying quick reflexes, he grabbed the passenger and pulled him away from the edge just as the train picked up speed. The rescue was captured on CCTV footage, which has since been circulated on social media.

Video Sparks Public Appreciation

A 39-second clip of the incident, shared on the social media platform X, shows the constable’s prompt action in real-time. While the video does not contain audio, it clearly shows the critical moment when Behera pulled the man to safety.

The footage has drawn widespread praise, highlighting the crucial role played by ground-level personnel in ensuring passenger safety.

No Injuries Reported

According to preliminary reports, Mujahir escaped without any serious injuries and was allowed to continue his journey after a brief check-up at the station. No disruption to train operations was reported as a result of the incident.
