Scammers target innocent people through fake phone calls, messages, emails, spoofed websites or social media profiles. They produce manipulated digital documents and try to convince them that they are under arrest or investigation. The innocent victims end up losing their hard-earned money to the scammers.

However, certain smart people are aware of scammers' tactics and easily dodge their attacks.

Well, recently a report surfaced that a smart man didn't just avoid getting scammed but also extracted Rs 10,000 from the scammer before filing a police complaint.

According to the report by Brut India, a scammer tried to con a man in Kanpur but ended up getting scammed himself.

The man identified as Bhupendra Singh, got a call from someone who identified himself as a CBI Officer. The person posing as a CBI official claimed to have Singh's obscene videos and threatened him with legal action. He demanded Rs 16,000 to settle the case and even sent him an image resembling a complaint.

However, Singh immediately learned that he was being scammed after a quick check using Google Lens. He then decided to change the tide.

He instantly made up a story of needing Rs 3000 to release a pawned gold chain. The scammer fell for the fabricated story and transferred the money. Well, this didn't end here. Singh presented more stories over the next few days. He sought help from a friend who posed as a jeweller. He convinced the scammer to send additional amounts under various pretexts.

In the video, Singh says, "I told him that Sir I can't arrange the money. But, I had stolen a gold chain from my home which I had mortgaged  15 days back with my friend's father, who is a jeweller. So, it will be very kind of you if you pay me Rs 3000 so that I can bring back the chain and sell it elsewhere. I will give you Rs 20,000. So, he transferred Rs 3000 to my account. I made up several more fake stories for the next few days," said Singh.

Reportedly, he extracted Rs 10,000 from the scammer before filing a police complaint.
