In the age of technology, everyone is racing towards advancements like AI, Meta, AR, VR, 3D, and more, with a particular focus on AI. Indian innovators are not lagging behind in this race as they are actively developing homegrown artificial intelligence.
One notable project is 'Hanooman,' an AI tool named after the Hindu deity Hanuman.
Developed by IIT-B in partnership with Seetha Mahalakshmi Healthcare (SML), Hanooman is a large language model (LLM) designed for Indic languages.
It can generate text and speech in various Indian languages, with plans to launch by the end of March 2024, as reported by the Economic Times.
Hanooman is also a MultiModal Large Language Model (MM-LLM) created in India for global use.
Led by the BharatGPT group and involving seven elite Indian engineering institutes, this tool aims to revolutionise text, image, video, and audio generation across sectors like healthcare, governance, education and finance.
Despite its relatively smaller size of up to 40 billion parameters compared to other LLMs, tech enthusiasts believe Hanooman is expected to rival chatbots like ChatGPT and Bing.

Its comprehensive features and accessibility in regional Indian languages make it invaluable for Indian citizens and promising across various sectors upon its launch.
