Mukesh Ambani on Monday shared news about the upcoming launch of Jio AirFiber in India on September 19, 2023, coinciding with the Ganesh Chaturthi festival.
Jio highlighted that Jio AirFiber will provide wireless internet with speeds similar to fiber-optic connections.
This means users can do things like watch videos, play games, and have video calls without delays and with a lot of data capacity.
In this 46th annual general meeting, Ambani mentioned that Jio Platforms is on track to become a global leader in developing 6G capabilities.
What is Jio AirFiber?
Jio AirFiber is a new way to get the internet from Jio. It uses 5G technology to give really fast internet.
Jio says it will be as fast as wired fiber internet, and people will get speeds up to 1Gbps. Setting up Jio AirFiber is easy. Just plug it in and turn it on.
Benefits of Jio AirFiber
Jio AirFiber will help people have a safer internet:
- Parents can control what their kids see on the internet.
- It uses Wi-Fi 6, which makes devices connect better.
- People can also connect Jio AirFiber to their TV using the same connection.
How is Jio AirFiber different from Jio Fiber?
Jio Fiber uses cables for wider coverage, but it's not available everywhere in India. Jio AirFiber, on the other hand, will be wireless. It connects homes and workplaces directly to Jio using signals. It doesn't need cables, just a clear line to a Jio tower.
Jio AirFiber can be faster than Jio Fiber, offering up to 1.5 Gbps instead of 1 Gbps. But the actual speed can change depending on how close you are to a Jio tower.
Jio AirFiber will cost around 20% less than other similar devices. A report says it might be about Rs 6,000.
Ambani also said that Jio will make new AI systems like ChatGPT for Indians. He promised AI for everyone, everywhere.
