Apple has a history of promoting diversity and inclusivity, and has previously released special watch bands and faces as part of its Pride collection
This year, Apple has announced the launch of a new Sport band and watch face for 2023.
The design of the new band is said to be inspired by the strength and beauty of the LGBTQ+ community, aligning with Apple's commitment to supporting and celebrating diverse communities.
The Pride Band Design
The latest Pride band design from Apple includes the original rainbow colors of the pride flag, in addition to five new shades.
These colors have been chosen to represent Black and Latin communities, as well as individuals who are living with or have passed away from HIV/AIDS.
The band also features shades of light blue, pink, and white, which are meant to represent the transgender and non-binary community.
The design of the band is composed of a vibrant array of geometric shapes set against a white base, which are compression-moulded into the final product.
The recently launched Pride wristband will come in two different sizes, namely 41mm and 45mm, and will be suitable for Apple Watch Series 3 and all subsequent models.
Pride Watch Wallpaper
Along with the new Pride band design, Apple has introduced a Pride Celebration watch face and iOS wallpaper for iPhones.
These additions to the collection are a tribute to the unity and mutual support that the LGBTQ+ community embodies.
The watch face showcases an array of vibrant shapes that seem to rotate into the watch display from the band.
These shapes respond to a user's movements, including raising their wrist or tapping the display.
The iOS wallpaper is a representation of this year's Pride design, and dynamically shifts as the user unlocks their iPhone.
Price
The new Pride Edition Sport Band will be available for purchase on the Apple Online store starting May 23, and can be purchased at Apple Store locations starting May 24 for a price of Rs 4,500.
The Pride Celebration watch face and iPhone wallpaper will be available for download next week, and will require watchOS 9.5 and iOS 16.5 to be installed on the respective devices.
