Despite brilliant and consistent performances in white ball cricket, selectors of the Indian cricket team have always given a raw deal to leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal. He was even removed from the list of centrally contracted players which was beyond any kind of logic.
However, the champion spinner has not lost interest in the game yet. He is performing brilliantly for Rajasthan Royals in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024. He dismissed three batsmen in the last match against Mumbai Indians, including the most important wicket of Hardik Pandya, to contribute to his team’s emphatic victory.
Former India player Harbhajan Singh has always supported Chahal. Bhajji urged the highest wicket-taker in the history of IPL to keep his dream of representing India alive in international cricket and in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024.
“Chahal is a champion bowler and the best in India. He doesn’t need to prove himself. I hope he wins T20 World Cup for India. I request him to keep his dream of another comeback alive, as a lot of cricket is left in him. He can still win matches for India and I am praying for his return to the Indian team,” said Harbhajan during an interaction.
Meanwhile, reacting over his chances to play in the upcoming T20 World Cup, Chahal said that he was not thinking about anything and just wanted to enjoy the game.
“I am not thinking about my comeback as that’s not in my hands. I have stopped going in that direction. My job is to perform for the teams I play for. I am enjoying my cricket and am looking forward to taking wickets for Rajasthan Royals,” said Chahal.
As per sources, performances in the first half of IPL 2024 will be considered for selection into the T20 World Cup 2024. Under the circumstance, few more good performances in the IPL and injury to other spinners may make a strong case for Chahal in the mega event.
