Ravichandran Ashwin
Following Ravichandran Ashwin’s sudden announcement of retirement from international cricket after the completion of the third Test against hosts Australia, several fans and experts were shocked. Moreover, it was a huge surprise for Ashwin’s family members.
Ashwin’s father was all set to travel to Australia for the fourth and the fifth Tests and had bought tickets for the two games to be played at the MCG and the SCG. However, he had to cancel the plan after Ashwin informed him about his decision.
Later, Ashwin’s father alleged that his son was facing humiliation.

“Ashwin informed us about his decision at the last moment. There could be many reasons, with humiliation being one,” said Ashwin’s father.
“It was shocking but it was bound to happen because humiliation was going on. How long he can tolerate it? He took a call on his own. I can’t interfere in his decision. One part of mine was happy but another part felt that he should have continued,” he added.
However, Ashwin was forced to issue clarification over the matter.
“My father isn’t media trained. I never thought you will follow this rich tradition of dad statements. Request you all to forgive him and leave him alone,” Ashwin wrote on his social media account X (earlier known as Twitter).
