Former Team India swashbuckling opener Virender Sehwag has turned as an expert during the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). The former explosive batsman minces no words in his criticism.
After Punjab Kings (PBK) opener Prabhsimran Singh guided his team to an impressive victory over Delhi Capitals (DC) with his maiden ton in the competition, Sehwag heaped praise on him. However, Sehwag launched a scathing attack at PBK all-rounder Sam Curran, who is the most-expensive player in IPL history.
While Prabhsimran scored a scintillating century of 103 runs in just 65 balls, Curran was the second-highest run-getter with a knock of 20 runs from just 24 balls. Reviewing the match against DC, Sehwag was quick to take a dig at Curran.
“Prabhsimran showed that he can hit those centuries. Again, he was bought for INR 60 lakh, and if a player fetching that much scores hundreds and wins you a couple of games, there can be nothing better than that. You bought Sam Curran for Rs 18.5 crores, what has he done?” said Sehwag during an interview.
Meanwhile, the convincing victory over DC has kept PBK’s hope for playoffs race alive.
