A Rising Star in Harshit Rana

While Harshit Rana, who gained attention through a stellar Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), is expected to make it to the squad, it is Krishna who holds the edge. Despite Rana's potential, his Test career has been modest, taking four wickets in two matches of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy with an average of 50.75.

First-Class Records

Krishna's credibility is bolstered by his first-class statistics, where he has claimed 88 wickets in 24 matches at an average of 21.57.

In contrast, Rana has taken 47 wickets in 12 matches, averaging 22.45. Krishna's height and adaptability to various playing conditions, especially in England, amplify his suitability.

Consistent Domestic Performance

After his success in Australia, Krishna continued his form in the domestic Ranji Trophy, taking seven wickets in two matches for Karnataka. In the IPL, Krishna has excelled with 16 wickets in eight matches. Rana, in comparison, has 11 wickets from the same number of IPL games, hinting at his inclination towards limited-overs formats.

With Krishna's overseas experience and red-ball expertise, his inclusion alongside bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami in the Test series against England is well-justified. His overall form and impressive statistics make a compelling case over Rana for the England tour.
