Legendary wicketkeeper batsman and former Team India captain MS Dhoni has nurtured the career of many talented youngsters in international cricket. May it be in Indian team, Indian Premier League (IPL) or domestic cricket, Dhoni’s influence on young cricketers has always been immense.
Take the case of Uttar Pradesh cricketer Sameer Rizvi. The talented young cricketer is the next batting sensation from India.
According to the former CSK batter, he has learnt much of his craft from Dhoni during the time he spent with the franchise in IPL 2024.
The young batter has recently performed brilliantly in the U-23 A Trophy. He first scored back-to-back tons and then went on to score 201 from just 97 deliveries against Tripura. The attacking batsman hit as many as 20 sixes and 13 fours during his knock to grab the attention of the experts and selectors again.

“I have spent some good time with Mahi sir (Mahendra Singh Dhoni). It was a dream to share the dressing room with my childhood hero and idol, and I am always grateful to God that it came true,” said Rizvi.
“I have learnt a lot from Mahi sir. I wanted to make full use of the opportunity. Whenever I got the chance, I walked up to him and asked him a lot of things. I used to stand at the corner of the nets and watch him closely. He is so calm, and he doesn’t care who the bowler is in front of him. After the nets, I used to chat with him. He taught me about the mindset and how to take my game forward,” he added.
