The sky at Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam lit with 'Dhoni Dhoni' chants as the cricket legend stepped onto the field to bat for the first time in this IPL season.
Fans went crazy as the atmosphere in the stadium was filled with whistles, shout-outs and 'Thala' chants. The Captain Cool hadn’t batted in the first two matches against RCB and GT. MS drove his fans crazy as he entered the ground in his yellow jersey as CSK struggled at 120/6 in 16.1 overs while chasing 191.
The crowd erupted in thunderous applause as Dhoni walked out to bat for the first time in the tournament. Fans went wild as the 42-year-old maestro struck a boundary off the very first delivery from Mukesh Kumar.
Though CSK lost the match, MS Dhoni’s terrific performance to blast 37 runs off just 16 balls left all the cricket lovers super elated. The veteran wicketkeeper-batsman won the ‘Electric Striker of the Match’ award, giving fans across the globe witness his magic with bat.
Dhoni’s batting was so good that the crowd was cheering up for him, forgetting that his team had lost the game. Fans were so engrossed in his batting that everyone forgot that CSK lost the match. Sharing the same on her Instagram handle, Sakshi Dhoni wrote, “Hi there Mahi, Didn’t realize we lost the game.”
His spectacular batting reminded fans of the good old days when Dhoni rocked cricket stadiums in his vintage style. The legendary cricketer also showed off his long hair like his early days in the game.
