The BJP will leave no stone unturned to take Odisha on a path of development, said the party’s National President JP Nadda, who inaugurated the state BJP’s first executive committee meeting in Puri on Friday after the party came to power in the state.
While addressing the gathering, Nadda said, “Words will fall short if I am to praise the party workers for what they did to make the lotus bloom here. Now, with the blessings of Lord Jagannath, we will bend over backwards to serve the Odisha people. I am also thankful to the people of Odisha for showering their blessings on us.”
“I still remember that I had told Manmohan Samal to double the number of seats in the Lok Sabha. And, you won 20 out of 21 seats and contributed in the formation of the government in the centre. Your contribution of votes for the Lok Sabha is 45 per cent. And, Narendra Modiji has become the Prime Minister for the third term in a row. There are NDA-led governments in 18 states and BJP-led governments in 13 states. I would like to say that the BJP is ruling over 58 per cent of the nation’s total land and 57 per cent of the total population.”
“Congress is like a parasitic plant. It weakens the party it associates itself with. It not only lives on the votes of associate parties but also eats them up. So, as Odisha people have empowered you, I believe, you should take a pledge that you will change the fate (Taqdeer) as well as picture (Tasveer) of the state,” he said to the BJP workers.

Training his gun at the Congress, he said, “On June 25, 1975, as many as 1,25,000 people were put behind bars under MISA and DIR. Rahul (Congress leader Rahul Gandhi) doesn’t know the History. Ask Naveen Babu, how Biju Babu was put behind bars. Former Prime Minister Morarji Desai, Chandra Sekhar, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, former Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani and hundreds of ministers were also sent to jail. And now they (the Congress) are trying to moralise us on Constitution.”
Among others, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi, State BJP President Manmohan Samal, BJP National Vice President Baijayant Panda, Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan & Jual Oram, Deputy Chief Ministers Pravati Parida and KV Singh Deo, Samir Mohanty, and party's Odisha in-charge Vijaypal Singh Tomar were present in the meeting.
