A master bookkeeper (MBK), a community resource person (CRP) and GPLF president working under the Odisha Mission Shakti department were accused of distributing money and sarees to SHG women at Nua Kholamara panchayat under Gop block of Puri district to influence voters in the upcoming fourth phase elections. They were reportedly nabbed by women BJP workers while distributing money.
They have been identified as MBK Jayanti Sahu, CRP Kaberi Maharana and GPLF president Sabita Khandual.
On being informed, police rushed to the spot and seized a bag of cash.
Meanwhile, the BJP MLA candidate for the Nimapara Assembly seat, Pravati Parida filed a written complaint with the BDO in this regard, seeking an investigation and action against the three.
Pravati Parida said, "Early in the morning, I got a video of the money distribution by MBK Jayanti Sahu, CRP Kaberi Maharana, GPLF president Sabita Khandual and secretary Swapna Pani at Nua Kholamara panchayat under Gop block. They had five bundles of Rs 500 notes and some sarees. They were distributing money and sarees to influence voters. We have visuals and photos of the incident as evidence. We have apprised the Gop BDO of the incident.”
Gop BDO Chhabirani Sahu said, "I received a complaint from BJP candidate Pravati Parida about the money and saree distribution. I immediately informed the SDPO and the IIC. I have ordered an investigation and sought a report. After the report, action will be taken if they are found involved in such illegal activities.”
