Senior leader Bijoy Mohapatra has been expelled from the BJP. The party informed this in a press note on Friday.
As per the party’s press note, disciplinary action has been taken against Mohapatra for his anti-party activities and indiscipline. He was a state executive member.
It is worth mentioning here that Mohapatra's son Arvind Mohaptara is contesting from the Patkura Assembly seat on a BJD ticket.
Besides Mohapatra, Sarada Pradhan and Rakesh Mallik have also been shown the door by the party.
As per the recommendations of the party’s state President Manmohan Samal, state executive members Bijoy Mohapatra and Sarada Pradhan, and state Vice President of SC Morcha Rakesh Mallik have been expelled for their anti-party activities and breach of the party’s discipline, read the Odia press release.
Denied party tickets, Sarada Pradhan and Rakesh Mallik are contesting as Independent candidates from Mahanga and Soro Assembly seats respectively.
