Leaders and workers of the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Saturday threatened to take up arms if the party grants a ticket to an imported leader in the Kendrapara Assembly seat.
The resentment over the selection of a candidate for the Kendrapara Assembly seat seems to be only increasing. While there are many aspirants for the seat, word is doing the rounds that the party may field a turncoat leader. This has left the party leaders and workers miffed.
They demanded that a party loyalist should be nominated for the seat.
“We learned from media reports that there is a possibility of an imported leader to be nominated for the Kendrapara Assembly constituency. When there are competent leaders in our party, what is the reason behind nominating an imported leader,” said Sipra Mallick, a ticket aspirant.

Another aspirant, Kishore Tarai said, “We hope that the party will consider our demand and field one of our own leaders from this area.”
Expressing his concern, a BJD worker said, “If the party fields someone who burnt posters of Naveen Babu and Biju Babu a month ago, then BJD workers will oppose him.”
