Biju Janata Dal (BJD) President and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik hit the campaign trail in Hinjili, his home turf and later at Sheragada on Wednesday.
Addressing his first public rally for the 2024 elections, Patnaik said, "I am extremely happy to kick-start the election campaign for the 2024 elections from Hinjili. The BJD’s journey of electoral victory begins from Hinjili.”
He later launched a salvo at the opposition parties, alleging that they were creating hurdles on the way to development.
“They are maligning the state government. No one has ever been successful by opposing development. The people of Odisha have come to know the true nature of the opposition parties,” he said, asserting that the BJD will come out with flying colours with a massive mandate with the blessings of the people.
The BJD supremo also asserted that the party will continue its winning streak and will do well in the Lok Saba polls.
Stating that Jodi Sankha (twin conches) is a symbol of development, the CM said, “The 4.5 crore brothers and sisters of Odisha are my family. I have been working for their welfare and will do it till my last breath. Development is our identity.”
However, Odisha BJP president Manohan Samal said, "The results of the elections will be out on June 4. The people have shown the trailer for 18 days, but the full picture is yet to come. People have expressed their resentment in the last 18 days. The BJD has to wait for June 4 polls results.”
