Odisha BJP president Manmohan Samal has termed his party’s Sankakp Patra (election manifesto), which was released for the 2024 Lok Sabha election on Sunday, as a vision for Viksit Bharat by 2047.
“You can call it a road map for the party vision of the country. When the government assumes power in June, it will carry forward its activities for its vision for Viksit Bharat. I have this confidence,” Samal exuded hope.
However, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and Congress in Odisha reacted on the BJP manifesto. The BJD said that people will bank on the Naveen guarantee while the Congress said that people will not buy the BJP promises.
Speaking to the media, BJD leader Padmanabh Behera said, ”No guarantee will work here, except the Naveen guarantee. The Naveen guarantee will be effective and the BJD will perform better than the previous elections.”
He added that the BJD manifesto is being prepared and it will be released by the Chief Minister soon. The manifesto will focus on the welfare and development of people, he said.
Veteran Congress leader and chairman of the party’s election manifesto committee Panchanan Kanungo said, ”Ten years ago, people used to believe in what Prime Minister Narendra Modi was promising or saying. Now, things have changed and there is hardly any possibility for the people to believe the BJP manifesto. Common people are no fools now after experiencing the 10 years rule.”
Notably, the BJP released its 'Sankalp Patra' with a focus on the Modi guarantees at the party headquarters in New Delhi in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and party President JP Nadda.
The BJP in its manifesto has focused on its four pillars -- youth, women, poor and the farmers, while 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas' is said to be the ‘soul’ of Sankalp Patra.
The Prime Minister pointed out that all 70-plus senior citizens will be covered under the Ayushman scheme while the free ration scheme will continue for the next five years.
The BJP has also pledged to raise the loan limit under the Mudra scheme from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 20 lakh.
Besides, the BJP has laid stress on the supply of cooking gas to households through pipes, apart from focusing on dignity of life and quality of life.
