The families that are allegedly deprived of justice in sensitive cases like murders, kidnap of children, organ smuggling and rape got together and came down heavily on the state government alleging apathy. They pressed for a CBI investigation for justice.
They held a press meet at IG Park in Bhubaneswar on Monday and narrated their ordeal and mental trauma. They warned of poll boycott in their respective constituencies if immediate steps are not taken to ensure justice for them.
They unanimously demanded that the Chief Minister should recommend a CBI investigation into their cases as the 25-year-old BJD government has failed to deliver them justice.
'Political leaders involved in crimes'
Subrat Das, one of the family members of a victim said, “We are still deprived of justice in murder, rape, kidnap and organ smuggling cases. During election time, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik made so many promises to people, but we are yet to get justice over the years. Some Ministers, MLAs and biggies of this government are involved in our cases and we are unable to get justice. The Home department is inefficient. Our demands have gone unheeded.”
Monalisa Sahu is the mother of the missing minor girl Pihu of Binjharpur in Jajpur. The two-year-old girl has been missing since August 9, 2020. The police are still clueless about the whereabouts of the girl.
Monalisa, who has been demanding a CBI probe alleging sluggish police investigation, said, "We have been struggling over the years to get justice. The government failed to deliver justice to us. If the government does not take any steps in the next 48 hours, we will boycott voting.”
