BJD workers went on a rampage and vandalised a market complex at Osara under Dharmasala block in Jajpur district on Monday. The incident took place during the election rally of BJD candidate & MLA Pranab Balabantray.
As per reports, while the rally was underway, an SUV of a former sarpanch namely Dillip Behera allegedly ran into the crowd, injuring a BJD supporter and damaging four motorcycles. BJD candidate Pranab Balabantray was present at the rally.
The incident triggered tension and some BJD workers allegedly vandalised a market complex owned by the former sarpanch at Mandia Chhak.
Jajpur SP Vinit Agrawal rushed to the spot while police were deployed at the place.
Jajpur SP said, "As an SUV tried to cross the rally from the front, three to four people were injured. We will conduct an impartial investigation into the entire incident. Action will be taken against those found responsible.”
However, no comment was received from the BJD about the incident.
