An unpleasant situation unfolded for BJD’s MLA candidate Suryamani Vaidya while she was campaigning along with her supporters in the Khallikote Assembly constituency on Saturday.
As Vaidya along with her supporters and party workers was taking out a rally at Kanchana panchayat, a group of villagers suddenly intercepted the leader and surrounded her campaigning vehicle.
They lobbed a volley of questions at the MLA asking what development works she has done for the panchayat in the last five years.
“Why have you come to the village when you have not fulfilled many promises made during the 2019 election,” the villagers asked her.
They also asked why the BJD leader came to the village during election time as she had never set her feet in the village after being elected in 2019.
At that time, some of Vaidya's supporters got angry and bandied words with the villagers, leading to commotion and tension at the spot for some time. The rally got stuck in the middle of the village for some time.
The BJD supporters were seen trying to pacify the angry villagers, albeit unsuccessfully.
Following such an ‘embarrassing situation’, the campaign vehicle of the BJD leader returned along with her supporters.
No reaction was received from Vaidya.
