Twenty four hours before the arrival of the Congress national fact-finding team to Odisha for probing the Mamita murder case, the State Congress upped its ante on the ruling BJD and targeted Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today.
“While there is fear and panic among women in the society, the Chief Minister of State is silent. Nor is he dismissing his cabinet colleague Dibya Shankar Mishra. Enough is enough,” said Congress spokesperson Padmakar Guru.
Addressing a presser, the Odisha Congress party today questioned why the Minister of State for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra, whose name has surfaced in the case due to his close proximity to the accused Gobinda Sahu, is mum of the sensitive issue, despite attending government meetings. The party added that the Minister’s silence will not be tolerated.

Reacting to the Congress attack, the ruling BJD said that the State government has never compromised on any issue and the law will take its own course.
“The probe is underway in the case. This is a strategy of the opposition to defame the govt. The Opposition can't digest the popularity of the CM. Hence they harp on such agendas that lack any fact,” said BJD MLA Latika Pradhan
“The CM had never endorsed any illegality in the past and will never do so,” she added.
On Thursday, a fact-finding team led by All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Randeep Surjewala and Odisha in-charge A Chellakumar will meet the family of the deceased lady teacher.
Odisha PCC president Niranjan Patnaik will accompany the Central team to Jharani, the native village of the deceased lady teacher.
