Putting all speculations to rest, former Odisha Chief Minister Giridhar Gamang and his son Shishir Gamang on Wednesday resigned from the primary membership of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Gamang, who was elected as MP from Koraput district nine times, has sent his resignation letter to BJP's National President JP Nadda.

“I joined BJP voluntarily, at my freewill, without precondition in 2015. I realised that I am unable to discharge my political, social and moral duty to the people of Odisha and hence tendering resignation from the primary membership of the party,” Gamang wrote.
