Youth shot at in Bhubaneswar over suspected old enmity

A youth was injured in a firing in Bhubaneswar outskirt on late Saturday night. It is suspected that the enmity is motivated by past rivalry. The youth identified as Deeptiranjan Mohapatra from Guapur village under Balipatna village, suffered a gunshot wound to his left arm.

As per reports, the shooting occurred around midnight while Deeptiranjan was sitting on a verandah of a rented house close to the Balipatna police station.

As many as two individuals on a motorbike approached the location and opened fire on Deeptiranjan before fleeing the scene. 

Investigation Underway

A case in this regard has been registered at Balipatna police station. It is suspected that the attack might be linked to an old enemity. Balipatna police are carrying out an investigation into the incident to trace the culprits and the exact motive behind this act.

Earlier in 2021, a youth was critically injured after he was fired at by another youth at Badakantakula village under Bantala police station in Angul district over old enmity.

The youth was initially admitted to Bantala Primary Health Center. Later he was shifted to District Headquarters hospital after his condition deteriorated.
