In a tragic incident, a youth went missing while bathing in the sea at Dhabaleswar in Ganjam on Sunday. 

The missing youth has been identified as Abhishek Ranjan from Bihar’s Danpur village. 

As per reports, Abhishek was bathing in the sea along with his three friends when he was swept away by high waves.

Rescue operations are currently underway to save Abhishek. Fire Department teams from Berhampur and Kanisi have reached Dhabaleswar and are conducting search and rescue operations.

Abhishek and his three friends had come to Goalbandha-based Army Air Defence College to take part in Agniveer exam.

Earlier a day before, a tourist was rescued by the lifeguards after he drowned while bathing in the sea at Sector 3 of the Puri beach.

The tourist was identified as Sougat Sadhukhan from North 25 Parganas in West Bengal.

The tourist from the neighbouring state was swept away by strong currents while swimming in the sea. Luckily, the tourist was spotted by the lifeguards quickly and was rescued immediately thanks to their quick response.

Earlier in July this year, an ITI student from Bhadrak district, identified as Rudra Pratap Sahu, went missing at sea while taking a bath with his friends in Puri.
