Youth beaten to death by 11 assailants in Cuttack

A youth was allegedly beaten to death by a group of 11 individuals late on Wednesday night in Cuttack. The deceased has been identified as Sumanta Sahu, a resident of Gobindpur village in the Banki police station area of Cuttack district in Odisha.

According to sources,  after attending a fair at the Bada Bandiani Thakurani temple in Tigiria, Sahu was on his way home when he was attacked by the assailants.

The assailants, who were already waiting for Sahu, ambushed him on the road, using abusive language and provoking an argument, sources added.

Following this confrontation, they launched a coordinated assault that left him severely injured and bleeding. After the attack, the assailants callously left Sumanta by the side of the road to bleed to death.

Following the incident, the victim’s mother and sister rushed him to a hospital to Cuttack’s SCB Medical College and Hospital, in a desperate attempt to save him.

Unfortunately, the medical staff declared him dead upon arrival. After the post-mortem examination, his final rites were conducted in a mournful atmosphere, as the community grieved the loss.

Sumanta's mother, Susama Sahu, has filed a formal complaint at the Banki police station regarding the incident. The Banki IIC has since arrived at Gobindpur to investigate the alleged murder case. Authorities have detained six of the 11 individuals implicated in the attack for questioning.

The attack incident has sparked tensions in the village, with residents expressing outrage and concern.
