A case of alleged medical negligence sparked tension in Balasore district on Sunday. The incident was reported from the Tudigadia area under Khaira police limits.

According to sources, Balaram Ram of Raigadia village under Gagandhuli panchayat had taken his young daughter, who was suffering from fever, to a private clinic at Tudigadia market. The family alleged that the child’s condition worsened within an hour of being administered an injection by the doctor.

Following the incident, the girl was rushed to Soro Community Health Centre and later shifted to Balasore District Headquarters Hospital, where she was declared dead. The bereaved family has accused the doctor of administering wrong treatment leading to the child’s death.

“We took the child, who was suffering from fever, to the clinic as it is located nearby. The doctor prescribed three injections. Though we informed the doctor that the child had not eaten anything, he insisted on administering the injection. When we reached home after the injection, the child died,” said Balaram Ram, the deceased child's father.

No statement has been received yet from the clinic authorities or the police regarding the incident.
