As panic struck the family, they immediately alerted on-duty lifeguards. Without hesitation, the lifeguards, assisted by some home guards stationed at the beach, plunged into the turbulent sea and successfully rescued the tourist.

Eyewitnesses described the act as heroic, calling the rescuers “guardian angels” who risked their lives to save another. Gopal Aicha was brought back to shore safely, and though shaken, did not sustain any major injuries.

Authorities later confirmed that the area is under constant surveillance and beachgoers are advised to follow safety guidelines, especially during high tide. The swift and coordinated response by emergency personnel highlights the effectiveness of safety systems in place at Puri beach.

Police have issued warnings to tourists and visitors, urging them not to enter deep into the waters due to unsafe conditions.

However, no comments were received from the tourist or local police in this regard.

Worth mentioning, earlier in another incident, a tourist was rescued by the lifeguards after he drowned while bathing in the sea at Sector 3 of Puri Beach on September 20. The tourist was identified as Sougat Sadhukhan from North 24 Parganas of West Bengal.

Sougat from the neighbouring state was swept away by strong currents while swimming in the sea. Luckily, he was spotted by the lifeguards and was rescued immediately thanks to their quick response.
