Panic gripped Bangra village in Baripada forest division, Mayurbhanj district, as an 11-foot King Cobra was rescued from a house on Monday. The venomous snake, found in Srikant Nayak's home, was later safely released into the Dukra wildlife range on Tuesday morning. Srikanta Mohanty, Pithabata Range officer, confirmed the incident.

Panic gripped the resident of Bangra village under Baripada forest division in Mayurbhanj district after an 11-foot long King Cobra snake was rescued from a house on Monday.

The venomous snake was later released into the Dukra wildlife range in the district on Tuesday morning.

Srikanta Mohanty, Pithabata Range officer under Baripada forest division, told ANI, "Yesterday at around 6.30 pm we were informed that a Kong Cobra has stayed into a house at Bangra village. On being informed, we immediately sent out team along with some experienced snake rescuers to the village.”

“The snake was safely rescued from the house of Srikant Nayak. As per Nayak, the snake had entered his house while chasing a monitor lizard,” Mohanty added.

Sharing details about the rescued snake, the forest official said, “The snake was 11 ft long and weighed 6.7 kgs. After examination by a local veterinarian, the snake was released into its natural habitat today morning.”
