The enchanting festival dedicated to Maa Budhi Thakurani commenced with grandeur in Berhampur on Friday.

Amidst an exuberant night-time procession, the revered Goddess made her ceremonial arrival at 'Bapa Ghara', symbolising visit to Her paternal home during the festival.

The rhythmic beats of the 'dhol mahuri' added to the festive symphony, captivating thousands who gathered to welcome the Goddess. These sounds, deeply rooted in local tradition, are essential elements of many regional celebrations.

City Gripped by Devotion & Festivity

Berhampur city is reportedly aglow with devotion, as evidenced by the fervent celebrations that continued late into the night. Maa Budhi Thakurani was ceremoniously installed in a temporary pavilion at around 3:40 am. Devotional chants and prayers filled the air, marking the installation with joy and reverence.

The arrival of the Goddess has imbued the whole city with a palpable spirit of festivity, reflecting the deep cultural significance of the festival for the local community. Devotees express their happiness through traditional prayers and vibrant gatherings, illustrating the enduring cultural legacy of this revered event.

" Maa Budhi Thakurani will take rest at the temporary pavilion today and all of Her rituals will be performed today. The Goddess will visit various places from tomorrow," said Maa Budhi Thakurani temple priest Manoj Kumar Gantayat.

"I have come from Pune. With blessings from 'Maa', I was ecstatic to get Her darshan," said a devotee.
