Panic gripped residents of Bhalumunda village, located just four kilometers from Kamakhyanagar town under the Eastern Range of Kamakhyanagar in Dhenkanal district, following reports of an unknown animal moving around the area.
According to sources, the mysterious creature was reportedly spotted roaming inside the village for the past three to four days. Its presence has created an atmosphere of fear among the villagers. Several locals have claimed to have captured photos and videos of the animal during this period.
Eyewitnesses claim that the animal resembles a leopard or possibly another species of big cat, though its exact identity remains unclear. Frightened by the unusual sightings, villagers have contacted the Forest Department.

However, officials have denied the presence of such an animal in the region, asserting that no such species exists in the local forests.
"The animal has been roaming for the last three to four days. We are not able to identify the animal. But we are getting scared by watching it. The big animal may attack our children, and that is why we are scared," said Jhunu Nayak, a villager.
"We have been seeing the animal for the last four days. We are scared to find it in our area. We request the administration to take necessary steps as around 20-30 families are living in the village with their children. We are in a state of panic. We are not able to identify the animal," said Raju Jena, another villager.
