The Commissionerate Police has intensified its probe into the murder of woman constable Shubhamitra Sahu, interrogating two more individuals linked to the case. The driver and owner of the JCB used to bury the body are currently under interrogation at Ghatagaon Police Station in Keonjhar district.

Investigations revealed that on September 6, accused constable Deepak Raut transported Shubhamitra’s body and buried it in a forest under Ghatagaon police limits. Following his arrest, police have gathered crucial information about the motive behind the crime.

According to sources, although Shubhamitra and Deepak had registered their marriage in court, the accused was unwilling to go through the traditional wedding rituals. This disagreement often led to quarrels between the couple.

Shubhamitra also suspected Deepak of being involved with another woman.

Police believe that, to eliminate her from his life, Deepak plotted and executed the murder. Further investigation is underway.

Meanwhile, in a fresh twist to the murder case, the crime history of the accused Deepak has come under the scanner. Police have reopened the case file relating to the mysterious death of his first wife, Aparna.

A murder case has now been registered at Khuntuni police station following a complaint lodged by Aparna’s sister, Rojalin Raut. Acting on the complaint, police have added murder charges against Deepak and launched a fresh investigation.
