In an unfortunate incident, a minor boy died of electrocution at Bali Yatra on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Biswa Prakash Manthan, a resident of Jagatsinghpur.
According to sources, Biswa Prakash was a Plus 2 student, studying at Saraswati Sishu Bidya Mandir situated in the Tulasipur area in the city.

Biswa Prakash was standing near decorative string lights at the trade fair when he came in contact with a live wire. On being informed about the incident, emergency responders rushed to the spot and he was swiftly taken to the Trauma Care Center of SCB Medical College and Hospital, sources added.
“He was a resident of the school hostel and not a day scholar. As such, I am not clear how he managed to reach the Bali Yatra fairground and subsequently come in contact with the wire. Whether he went to the fair as a school trip, with friends, or slid past without permission is not known,” said Biswa Prakash Rath, a friend of the deceased.

Tanveer Islam, a close relative of the deceased student said, “I received a call asking me to come down urgently to SCB Medical as he was in a serious condition. Meanwhile, one of his uncles, who stays in the CDA area of Cuttack, reached before me and informed me that he had passed away.”
No comments from police or school authorities could be obtained over the matter.
